I arrived at my wit's end today and a list rescued me just as I was about to plummet toward the abyss.
As soon as I wrote down the things I needed to do (top 4) and started to do them, my crazy little world calmed down and the planets fell back into order.
What kind of lists do you write?

Because my memory has always sucked, I never travel far from my "to do" list. What I find interesting is some days I greet it with joy, other days with a groan depending on mood and energy. Trick may be to always stick something yummy on it a la Mary Poppins who found that "a little bit of sugar makes the medicine go down!" Or else, do something nasty and nagging which will bring a proportionate surge of relief when accomplished.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the only solace I can find is to follow your Top Four process. That way I have at least some sense of accomplishment. Sometimes, though, just rewritg the list without all the crossouts will do the trick.
Really good question, Carmen, Thanks, Audrey
By the way, I love your thoughtful blog. I have done that in the past, but over time it has become more of diary of events, which is fine in its own way, but there is also a need for a place in which to be more calm and reflective. Hmmm! Something to think about - but later after I've written an old friend who's going through a really rough time. Audrey
