What You Focus on Expands

I am reading a fabulous book by T. Harv Ecker called Secrets of a Millionaire Mind. It is not a get-rich-quick book, but rather a psychology book for folks who are making less money than they want to be making. It helps one examine how she came to create a certain financial "blueprint" that determines how much money she makes (and/or retains). T. Harv Ecker's theory is that each of our financial blueprints was created by what we learned at a young age about money, and its worth and value, from our families, cultures, and the media.

I could go on and on about how much I love this book. Its basic concepts and tenants can be applied to any area of one's life, not just money. But what I really wanted to share today is a challenge from T. Harv Ecker to not complain for one week. In his view, "complaining is the absolute worst possible thing you could do for your health or your wealth. The worst!" He believes in "the universal law that states, "What you focus on expands."

Perhaps you are not much of a complainer, or perhaps you are, but don't realize it. This week, I am going to pay close attention to my thoughts and words, and train myself to NOT COMPLAIN (even in my head). Are you up to the challenge as well?

  1. Yes, I am. Pete and I have been exploring the philosophy of positive attraction. This sounds similar, in that if you are a positive thinking believer in the power of the mind, your positive attitude, thoughts, and expectations will attract positive opportunities and experiences that are relative to who you are, and what you need and desire.
